Born 1929 at Nellikkakuzhi near Trivandrum, Dr.K.Rajayyan had his education in the Universities of Kerala, Madras and George Washington, U.S.A. Beginning his career in Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum, he served as Lecturer in S.V. University, Tirupati, Chief Professor in Presidency College, Madras and Professor and Head of the School of Historical Studies in M.K.University, Madurai. Also he served as Chairman of I.A.S. Board and President of South Indian History Congress.
More than the positions he held, it was his significant contributions to historical scholarship that bestowed upon him an exalted status in the academic world. But for his pioneering effort and intelligent application of research technique, it would not have been possible to gain more than 100 papers and twenty one research works for historical literature and twenty five Ph.Ds, for the academic community. Here is presented, his masterpiece in its third edition.
